Sziget – The Island of Freedom

In general, it’s good to know at least a little of what you’re in for when you decide to go on an adventure into foreign lands. And although I knew little of what Sziget would actually be like, nothing could prepare me for the epic that was one of Europe’s premier festivals.

Sziget 2016 would feature the likes of Rihanna, David Guetta, Bastille, and soon-to-be my new favourites – Parov Stelar! Although with over 1000 acts, and more than a handful of bars, there was no shortage of variety in the audial department.

So with my Sziget passport in hand, off we went into the festival!

The island of freedom, as they call it. It undoubtedly lives up to the title. Aside from the music, there was; a sports arena – with every variation of football you could imagine, as well as climbing walls, volleyball, an adventure park; the art zone; the chill zone; the luminarium; and plenty of great displays!

But when it came to the main acts, the energy of the crowds was incredible! From a roughly 100,000 strong crowd, and a show of lights that would even impress a blind man, there would be no holding back!
